Garland V. Stewart Scholarship 2024

 

The Pi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that we will be providing Scholarship awards totaling up to $20,000.  These Scholarships are available for 2024 male graduating seniors. Please inform your students of the availability of these scholarships.

 

Scholastic awards will be awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence in their scholastic achievements and community activities.  Funding is provided by the Pi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc and the Pi Iota Education Foundation, Inc., a 501(C)(3) Corporation.

 

 

Eligibility Requirement(s):

  • Eligibility is restricted to male graduates of a public or private Hillsborough County School.  African American males are especially encouraged to apply. 

  • The applicant must have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

  • The applicant must meet all graduation requirements prior to the graduation date established for his class.

  • The applicant must enroll as a full-time student at an accredited institution of higher learning.

  • A personal interview will be conducted with each selected applicant.

  • Verification of Information

  • The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to verify information submitted in support of the applicant seeking the scholarship.

  • Authorization is granted for the release of supportive information by the school to the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. /Pi Iota Education Foundation, Inc. for the above purpose.

 

Administration of Scholarship Fund:

  • Scholarship Funds will be awarded to the selected applicants in 4 one-year installments over a max of 4 consecutive academic calendar years. First installment will be disbursed upon providing proof of college/university enrollment. Note: This is at the discretion of the Pi Iota Chapter Scholarship Committee and Pi Iota Education Foundation. 

  • To maintain Scholarship eligibility, the student must maintain a minimum of 2.5 grade point average over each academic year calendar year.

  • Student(s) will be responsible for providing eligibility criteria and proof of enrollment to the Pi Iota Education Foundation to receive the Scholarship Award for each academic calendar school year. 

  • If a scholarship recipient should relinquish the award, the Scholarship Committee may select a new recipient from the applications on file for the current scholarship year.

 

Operation Follow Through:

The Pi Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is committed to maintaining consistent communication with their Scholarship Award Recipients during college tenure. Our goal is as follows:

 

  • Call each student at least once during each semester.

  • Ask about the overall health and wellbeing of the student 

  •   Inquire about their financial status and if they have any financial issues.

  • Ask about their college experience to date.
